Champions – 2016

The Champions of the Murray 2016 Final was held on Saturday 28th May at the Sporties Cobram Barooga Golf Club. Proudly sponsored by Aristocrat, 56 finalists from the qualifying Clubs were keen to play their best to take out this year’s title!

After a night of rainfall, it was sunny skies in Cobram on the morning of the final. Our golfers were welcomed by the Golf on the Murray Committee with each player receiving a complimentary sleeve of Pro V golf balls before the 4BBB Stableford Event on the Old Course began!

The evening function began with refreshments and canapés from 6:30pm in the Clubhouse. Our golfers had the chance to mingle and discuss their golf technique (or tales of woe) for the day – although everyone was asked to keep their scores a secret!

Delicious main meals were served alongside complimentary bottles of wine, generously donated by Monichino Winery, followed by presentations. The Chairman, Greg Roberts, highlighted the importance of Golf on the Murray and working together to promote our region. He pointed out that the Murray is now the No.1 destination in Australia for Golf Tourism, before announcing the winners for the day.

The celebrations continued with desserts, more wine, live music and lots of laughs! A great weekend was had by all the teams from along the river! Congratulations to all of our winners. This is a highly sort after golf experience. Don’t miss your chance to qualify for next year’s event!
