The Champions of the Murray 2017 Final was held on Saturday 3rd June at the Rich River Golf Club Resort. Proudly sponsored by Aristocrat,
48 finalists from the qualifying Partner Clubs were keen to play their best to take out this year’s title!
After a foggy morning, it was sunny skies in Echuca Moama for the final. Our golfers were welcomed by the Golf on the Murray Committee
at a delicious buffet breakfast with each player receiving a complimentary sleeve of Pro V golf balls before the 4BBB Stableford Event
on the East Course began!
Throughout their game, our golfers enjoyed two Nearest to Pins, a Longest Drive as well as a Floating Green challenge.
The evening festivities began with a cocktail party and canapés from 6:30pm in the Tatalia Function Centre. Our golfers had the
chance to mingle and discuss their golf technique (or tales of woe) for the day – although everyone was asked to keep their scores
Delicious main meals were served, followed by official presentations. The Chairman, Greg Roberts, highlighted the achievements
of Golf on the Murray and the importance of working together to promote our region. He pointed out that the Murray is currently
the No.1 destination in Australia for Golf Tourism, before announcing the winners for the day.
The celebrations continued with desserts, more drinks and lots of laughs! A great weekend was had by all the teams from along the
river! Congratulations to all of our winners. This is a highly sort after golf experience. Don’t miss your chance to qualify for
next year’s event!
"Thanks for a great weekend, great concept. Great weather, great company, great course and great fun ( shame about my golf ability on the day, but the day was still fab). Much appreciated... a lot of work from a few people. Cheers, Sue Davis (Murray Downs)"
"We are now safely home after a lovely weekend at Rich River. Not only did we get to enjoy the impressive accommodation and meals, Colin was lucky enough to take home some of the prizes. He is telling his mates about it all now. I can imagine their envy!
Thanks again to all the organisers and we look forward to hearing about Yarrawonga next year. Kind regards, Colin and Jennifer McNamara."
